Since 1975, HCPT has offered life changing Summer pilgrimages to Lourdes for disabled and disadvantaged people of all ages. Read how people like Susan benefit from a week at Hosanna House.

Pilgrims stay for a week at HCPT’s Hosanna House, an attractive and tranquil home-from-home in nearby Bartrès – with spectacular views of the Pyrenees. The house was opened as a response to young pilgrims who wanted to enjoy the HCPT Lourdes experience as adults. Over each Summer, more than 1,500 people enjoy the house, its chapel and other fully accessible facilities. HCPT will organise every aspect of your pilgrimage holiday – from flights to dietary requirements.

Hosanna House is 10 minutes walk from the centre of the village of Bartrès, where Saint Bernadette spent much of her childhood with family.  The parish church is popular for visitors, as well as the sheepfold where she tended her sheep – which is still in daily use.

What's involved?

As an HCPT Summer pilgrim, you’d be travelling with a group of around 40 to 50 people of all ages and abilities for a week between May and October.

The programme is designed for you to make the most of the spiritual opportunities to visit Lourdes, if you wish, including visiting the Grotto and Baths, joining the Masses, and taking part in the Torchlight Processions. You may also visit the nearby Pyrenees and coastal resorts, restaurants, cafes and other attractions.

Accessibility

Hosanna House has spacious accessible bedrooms, including twin, three and four-bed ensuite rooms, many of which have accessible bathroom facilities. Specialist facilities include walk/wheel-in showers, baths with handrails or lifts, hoists, and extra wide doorways. All lounges, dining rooms and lifts are fully accessible. The house has two chefs and all meals are provided. We do our best to accommodate special dietary requirements.

Who takes part?

Disabled and disadvantaged people of all ages, from the very young to the very old, benefit from HCPT’s Summer pilgrimage holidays to Hosanna House. They are supported by volunteer helpers, and/or their loved ones, before, during and after the pilgrimage holiday. Each HCPT Summer group involves a Group Leader, Deputy, Nurse, Chaplain, plus other roles according to the needs of the group.
